Tumblr is entering the creator monetization game—Generation Z creators, specifically—with its beta rollout Wednesday of Post+.

The platform described Post+ as a new subscription feature that enables creators to use its existing multimedia post form and create unique content for paying subscribers.

Tumblr clarified in a blog post Wednesday, “Fear not, Tumblr will always be free to use: This is just a way to continue to empower unique voices and throw a little coin to your favorite artists, fanfic writers or maybe even that one mashup Supernatural/Studyblr blog you’ve been following since 2016.”

The company pointed out that 48% of its users are Gen Z, along with more than 60% of its new signups, adding, “Post+ will empower the next generation of creators to make real money by turning their passion—whether that’s meme-making, fan fiction, illustrating, writing or even shitposting—into their livelihood.”
