TikTok began extending the maximum length of its videos to three minutes in July, and it provided an update Thursday on how its community has adapted to the change.

The video creation platform said in a blog post Thursday that videos longer than one minute have tallied more than 5 billion views worldwide, with creators leaning on options including color effects and green screen to get more out of their content.

TikTok added that these longer videos average more than two minutes, and the format is most popular in Japan, Thailand and Vietnam, while users in Brazil, the U.K.
