Meta’s NPE Team Adopts a More Global Approach

The New Product Experimentation group will focus on historically overlooked communities, invest in startups

Meta is shifting the focus of its NPE team to historically overlooked communities and broadening its scope outside of the U.S.

NPE stands for New Product Experimentation, and the team was established in July 2019 to create and test new consumer-focused applications and features.

Meta head of NPE Ime Archibong explained in a blog post that the team will continue to build products from the ground up, and it will also begin investing in external startups, adding that while technology-centric experimentation will always be a part of what the NPE team does—”We’re just as excited about Web3 and artificial intelligence as everyone else”—it will now zero in on building with and for “communities that have historically been overlooked, underestimated and undervalued by our industry.”

He elaborated, “I’m thinking in particular of women and people of color.
