It's Not Print That's Dying, It's Print Journalism

Mark your calendar for Mediaweek, October 29-30 in New York City. We’ll unpack the biggest shifts shaping the future of media—from tv to retail media to tech—and how marketers can prep to stay ahead. Register with early-bird rates before sale ends!

As one of my mentors, copywriting and direct marketing guru Denny Hatch, points out, we are living in an age of ego journalism.

Where did it all start? Perhaps when the first newspaper or magazine writer decided to put a picture next to his or her byline, likely in that asinine “hand on chin” pose. Before you write to say, “but you have your photo on this very page,” I’ll tell you that my colleagues and boss have requested it, while my wife still can’t believe I let someone take a photo of me in a tie.
