GLAAD Taps Jenni Olson as Social Media Safety Program Director

Jenni Olson joined GLAAD as social media safety program director.

Olson has worked in LGBTQ+ media and technology for decades, as an independent consultant and film historian, critic and archivist.

She most recently served as vice president of ecommerce and marketing at LGBTQ+ film distributor Wolfe Video, and Olson was also a co-director of programming for San Francisco international LGBTQ+ film festival Frameline, but she is perhaps best known for being a co-founder of PlanetOut, the first major LGBTQ+ community website, in 1995.

At GLAAD, she will build and staff the organization’s work to grow safer spaces for LGTBQ+ people on social media platforms and applications, along with developing GLAAD’s public education and watchdog work on that front.
