Facebook now requires certain users to turn on Facebook Protect, its advanced security program designed to keep profiles safe from hackers. The users Facebook selects for the Facebook Protect program are those who have the potential to reach a large audience, such as journalists and government officials.

Once Facebook makes someone eligible to turn on Facebook Protect, the user will be required to turn on this feature before a certain date if they want to keep using their account as normal.
