The Economist Group this week announced that its chief executive Helen Alexander will step down from her position at the company’s annual meeting on July 15. She will be replaced by Andrew Rashbass.

Alexander has served as CEO since 1997. She will become an adviser to Bain Capital, an international private-equity investment group.

Rashbass has served as publisher and managing director of The Economist for three years. Earlier, he was managing director of Economist.com, after joining the company from Associated Newspapers in 1997.

“The Economist Group is in better shape than ever, and has had another record year,” says Alexander.
