App Annie: Mobile Ad Spending Hit $240B in 2020

Mobile data and application analytics company App Annie released its State of Mobile 2021 report, which analyzed the ways consumers interacted with mobile apps in 2020.

According to the report, new app downloads, app store spending, daily time spent and mobile ad spending all increased in 2020 when compared with 2019. For instance, mobile ad spending hit $240 billion in 2020, a 26% year-over-year increase.

Looking at social networking apps specifically, App Annie found that time spent per user in 2020 increased by up to 325% year-over-year, writing, “[TikTok’s] average monthly time spent per user grew faster than nearly every other app analyzed, including 70% in the U.S.
