Zynga Game Cards Now Available at 7-Eleven, Best Buy, Gamestop and Target

Zynga announced today that they are releasing their pre-paid game cards to many of the nation’s largest retailers including 7-Eleven, Inc., Best Buy, GameStop and Target. The pre-paid cards allow users to buy in-game currency for Zynga games like Farmville, Mafia Wars and YoVille, and are very useful to players who don’t have credit cards to pay online.

All Zynga games are free to play online, so these cards and currencies are mainly used to either accelerate growth or buy premium items. This is part of the entire social games model, where approximately 80% of players play for free while 20% of players opt to pay to enhance th eier experience.

“Social gaming is going mainstream and consumers around the world are connecting with people through games like FarmVille and Mafia Wars,” said Vish Makhijani, senior vice president at Zynga. “By partnering with 7-Eleven, Best Buy, GameStop and Target, our games can be accessed by a broader audience of new and existing players.”

Zynga reports that it has over 235 million monthly active users playing its games including FarmVille, Zynga Poker, Mafia Wars, YoVille, Café World, FishVille and PetVille. We recently reviewed one of their acquired titles, Friends for Sale, and noted it to be one of the most social games available. Certainly, Zynga is on a roll.
