Writing Contest: ‘Halloweeen is Not Excepted’

A writing contest with very very specific parameters that just so happen to fit a blog format? The “prize” is being able to write for an obscure local comedy site? It MUST be funny because we’re laughing.

We have a website that is dedicated to supporting live and written comedy in Los Angeles. This can be any day in history or a holiday that takes place in October – Halloweeen is not excepted (sic), you must think a little more outside the box. The winner will get a featured spot on our blog for the Month of October as well as a prize.

Your submission piece must…

  • contain over 300 words
  • involve a day in history or holiday (except Halloween) that took place in October.


  • Do not to tell personal stories or use inside jokes.
  • Keep your submission playful, we will not post hostal pieces or shock humor. We have no problem with R-rated humor, just keep it on the repectable side of R.
  • Submit your piece by Oct 1st, 2010 to email attached to craigslist post.

    All applicants may also be eligible to write long term for our blog.
