7 Reasons Why SMBs Use Social Media [STUDY]

Social media has quickly proven itself to be an asset for brands of all shapes and sizes across almost every industry around the globe, but it’s been especially valuable for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Platforms such as Twitter and Facebook give SMBs affordable and effective marketing opportunities that scale alongside their business growth, allowing them to reach new prospects and engage with existing customers.

Indeed, new research from Gallup and Wells Fargo found that connecting with customers was the number one way that SMBs use social networks, cited by more than three-quarters of respondents.

The top seven reasons were:

1. To connect with customers (78 percent)
2. To market or promote business and products (72 percent)
3. To build an online reputation (72 percent)
4. For advertising (69 percent)
5. To learn what is being said about your business (62 percent)
6. To learn what is being said by your competitors (40 percent)
7. For hiring purposes (21 percent)
