Very Vera

We can’t wait to see what Vera Wang designs for Kohl’s. Apparently handbags, accessories, jewelry, intimate apparel among other essentials are on the agenda, but no wedding gowns or ice-skating apparel. Darn! That part is really disappointing. We’ve always liked her breath-taking gowns for celebs such as Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and Sharon Stone as well as her winning outfits for skaters such as Nancy Kerrigan,Peggy Fleming, and Michelle Kwan, even if Ms. Wang is not the most witty designer in the world (her recent lackluster appearance on Project Runway is an example – her oh-so-posh designer counterpart Diane Von Furstenberg did a much better job in another Runway episode). Still we love her. We have a specially soft spot for editors from the now-defunct Mademoiselle Magazine who’ve hit the big-time (Vera was one. Kate Spade, Clinton Kelly and Stacy London of “What Not to Wear” also edited copy at the venerable consumer fashion rag). We’ll have to see wait until next year to see VW’s concoctions for Kohl’s. Somehow we’re thinking her shoes will be a best-seller. That’s just a guess.
