Utne Reader Announces Nominees for Independent Press Awards
Utne Reader, which collects and publishes articles from independent newspapers, alternative magazines, and plain old zines, today named its nominees for the 21st annual Utne Independent Press Awards.
Utne nominated 80 publications across in 10 categories — general excellence, best writing, politics, arts, international, health/wellness, science/tech, social/cultural, environmental and spiritual. Instead of requiring submission fees, Utne deploys its editors to evaluate publications from across the alternative press.
The winners will get their prizes on April 25 at the Magazine Publishers of America – Independent Magazine Advisory Group conference in Washington, D.C.
