USC Annenberg Journalism Professor Wins 2011 Lionel C. Barrow Jr. Award

USC Annenberg journalism professor Felix F. Gutierrez is the winner of this year’s Lionel C. Barrow Jr. Award for Distinguished Achievement in Diversity Research and Education by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). Which also makes him the winner of the longest-named award in human history.

The Barrow award is given to those who promote diversity on behalf of underrepresented minorities. Gutierrez has spent most of his career, spanning back to 1967, advocating for greater inclusion of minorities in the mass media.
