US eBook Sales Doubled in September

There’s good news and bad news in the publishing world today. eBook sales are up over last years figures, but total book sales are down significantly.

eBook sales were up just over double last September’s figures, to $80m from $40m. But they’re also down 10% from last month; August eBook sales hit $89 million. The overall market was down 6% from last year, with adult paperback and audiobooks holding their own. Adult hardcover, mass-market paperbacks, and children’s books all saw a significant drop in sales.
