The Washington reporter for TIME will start with NJ next Monday to cover Congress. Rogers, a former intern for Sen. Joe Lieberman and page for Rep. Nick Rahall, has earned his stripes “the old fashion way,” said Grieve in a staff memo.

Rogers tweeted last afternoon about his excitement in joining National Journal next week.

Below is the full memo from Grieve.

All —

I’m thrilled to announce that Time’s Alex Rogers will be joining National Journal next month as a reporter on our Congress team.

Alex graduated from Vanderbilt in 2012 and interned for The Tennessean before joining Time as a Washington reporter.  He earned his Hill knowledge the old-fashioned way — working as a page for Rep. Nick Rahall while still in high school and as an intern for Sen. Joe Lieberman during college.

Alex joins us May 4.  Please join me in making him welcome.
