In less than a decade Twitter has revolutionised the way that brands, public bodies and the rich and famous connect and engage with the general public and, for the most part, that’s a good thing. Twitter allows information to be freely released and shared, and we greedily gobble it up.

But Twitter comes with a dark side, too. And thanks to the humble retweet, misinformation, ill-advised musings and lies can be read as fact and quickly passed from user-to-user, leaving confusion and panic in their wake.
