  • An NBC release announced that “Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the “top-rated network evening newscast, winning the week of November 27 in total viewers, homes and among the key demographic adults 25-54.” The show won all five nights, attracting 9.836 million total viewers, 5% more than ABC and a 28% advantage over CBS — the biggest Advantage over CBS since Katie Couric became anchor.

  • An ABC release announced that “World News with Charles Gibson” averaged 9.38 million Total Viewers the week of November 27, 2006. Of the three evening newscasts, “World News” was the only one to grow its Total Viewing audience year-to-year.

  • Washington Business Journal reports that XM Satellite Radio will “offer a national broadcast channel devoted exclusively to Jewish culture beginning later this month.” Radio Hanukkah (XM 108) will launch Dec. 15 to coincide with the holiday.

  • At the Kennedy Center Honors this weekend, the Reliable Source gals witnessed Bob Schieffer showing off a picture of him and Jessica Simpson to Karl Rove. Schieffer took the pic himself with his digital camera.

  • Even libertarians think Jack Shafer is too cool.

  • TVNewser reports that MSNBC is kicking CNN’s ass (ok, so we are paraphrasing). In reality, MSNBC, “The perennially third-place cable news net beat CNN in the demo in primetime three of out of five weekdays, and five out of seven days, last week.”

  • TVNewser has Jim Lehrer on the state of news today: “I have a simple theory. The fact of the matter is that the day of straight news reporting is returning. All these people who are shouting and screaming about the news have to have news to begin with. There is always a news story.”
