mys.jpg Spanish broadcaster TVE decided to be creative by following new trends and will run national selection for Eurovision song contest trough MySpace. The destiny of participants, which will compete for the ticket to Eurovision final as Spain representative, is now in hands of online community.

Eurovision is very popular annual song competition in Europa. Every country which is member of European Broadcasting Union is presented by one artist/band. They are competing for the firs place by participating in a live TV concert and receiving votes from the viewers or jury. According to Wikipedia Eurovision song contest is on of the longest-running television programmes in the world which have between 100 and 600 million large audience every year.

Right now Spanish artists are welcome to apply for online competition by submitting their songs. The period of submission is pretty short and will end on February 10th. Right after that will start voting process which will be open till February 20th. There are 10 finalists for the national selection round and five from them will be selected trough voting at MySpace page.

Of course you can’t ignore the growing number of online addicts and MySpace as the #1 network out here is wise choice of the TVE. It is pretty good way how to attract larger audience to such events and the ‘old’ TV show thing. Submitting and judging process is also much easier – hey, maybe enough with the live TV, let’s do it online!
