Sandra Day O’Connor Tells Cosmo Readers to Go Out and Vote

The former Supreme Court justice has a message.

Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor is taking a pause from her quiet retirement to send a mesaage to all the ladies out there: Vote.

O’Connor invokes the sweep of women’s history in this country, from her own historic ascension as the first female justice on the highest court in the land to the disenfranchised days before the 19th Amendment, as she advises women to participate in setting that course through the ballot box.

The good news is that more women vote than men, proportionally speaking, but the actual percent of woman voting declined a touch between 2008 and 2012.

“I am deeply concerned that perhaps we are forgetting that we are responsible for setting the direction of our country for the next four years,” she writes in Cosmopolitan.

Moral of the story is go vote, unless you want to disappoint O’Connor, and yourselves.
