Samsung SMT-i9100 is a Galaxy Tab Lookalike in Japan That is WiFi-Only (no 3G)

Engadget made a great find earlier this week when it noted that the KDDI SMT-i9100 in Japan is an edgy looking version of the Android OS 2.2 based Samsung Galaxy Tab that will be available in the U.S. soon.

Samsung Galaxy Tab redesigned for KDDI, hitting Japan in late February as SMT-i9100

The aspect I found most interesting is that although it is sold by a mobile carrier, the SMT-i9100 is a WiFi-only device. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is an intriguing looking device. But, I’m not interested in paying a premium to pay for a 3G radio I don’t plan to use. I’d rather buy a WiFi-only tablet like the SMT-i9100 at a lower price (say $299 to $399).
