Roy Disney Dead At 79
Roy E. Disney, nephew of Walt Disney, died this morning in Newport Beach after a battle with stomach cancer. He was 79. From the obituary on TheWrap.com:
A longtime senior executive at the studio — which his father Roy O. Disney founded, along with Walt — he was currently director emeritus for the board of directors.
It was Disney who most famously clashed publicly with then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner in 2005. Increasingly embittered with the direction the company had taken under Eisner, he played a pivotal role in organizing the chief’s ouster.
