Roll Call Photogs Snag Six WHNPA Awards

Photographers Tom Williams and Bill Clark made out like bandits in this weekend’s White House News Photographers Association photo contest.  The dynamic duo from Roll Call won a total of six awards combined.  Williams, a FishbowlDC fav,  took 1st place in the “On Capitol Hill”  category for his photo of Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) after being censured on the House floor for ethics violations.  Clark won the “Portrait” category for his photo of Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) supporters posing with Michelle Obama magazine covers.  Congrats to Bill and Tom!

Roll Call Photographers win WHNPA awards

I’m extremely happy to announce that Roll Call staff photographers Bill Clark and Tom Williams have won six awards at the prestigious White House News Photographers Association “Eyes of History 2011” competition.

Bill and Tom truly deserve these awards for their tireless dedication to Roll Call with long days on the Hill endless miles traveling for politics and long weekends. Their stellar showing over the weekend was impressive to say the least. You guys are the best in the business and your peers acknowledge your talents and accomplishments this weekend. As Scott Montgomery said to me over the weekend, “Awesome! Not surprising really, but awesome.”

Yes, awesome indeed. Join me in congratulating Bill and Tom for these awards.

Staff photographer Bill Clark won four awards including; 1st for Portrait/Personality; 3rd for On Capitol Hill; Award of Excellence for On Capitol Hill and Award of Excellence for Insiders Washington.

Staff photographer Tom Williams won two awards including; 1st for On Capitol Hill and Award of Excellence for On Capitol Hill.

I’d like to point out that 8 awards where given for the On Capitol Hill category and Bill and Tom won four. It’s the category that has the most entries and is by far the hardest category to win in.

Once again thanks Bill and Tom for your hard work this past year.
