RD Recap: Layoffs at Wenner Media; New Hires at The Week

The latest media hirings and firings.

Revolving DoorWenner Media lays off a host of staffers, including Rolling Stone senior writer David Fricke, although he’ll continue to contribute to the mag. Also gone are Us Weekly’s fashion director Sasha Morrison, executive projects director Albert Lee and senior writer Kevin O’Leary. The moves are part of a larger cost-cutting effort that will see about a 10 percent reduction in payroll. The final tally is either “as many as 40 people” or “way below” 40, depending on whether you want to believe the New York Post or a Wenner Media flack… Condé Nast Entertainment hires Teal Newland as senior vice president, marketing and partner management.
