NPR installs Edith Chapin as executive editor. She had been doing the job in an interim position since Madhulika Sikka left in June. “As NPR’s senior supervising editor of the International Desk, Edith led a team of remarkable journalists during pivotal world events and crises,” NPR svp of news and editorial director Michael Oreskes wrote in a memo. “From conflict in the Middle East to economic developments in South America, Edith and the International team brought powerful storytelling and humanity to every story they have covered.
