PAPER Wraps Up LA In Pretty Little Packages

The PAPER Project opens wide today in Los Angeles, embarking on a caravan of visually-stimulating events throughout the city. We vaguely remember something brilliant like Krispy Kreme Aerobics last year, but this year they’ve done something exceptionally smart by taking the party on the road: PAPER will be making stops in no less than six neighborhoods, some in the same night. Friday through Sunday will see a storefront open at the corner of Hollywood and Western (in that building ringed with nude men–and that’s before the West Coast Walk-Off on Sunday). Here’s our picks:

PAPER throws an arty party with our favorite Chinatown galleries! Participating spaces include Black Dragon Society, Happy Lion, Thomas Solomon Gallery, Daniel Hug Gallery, Mary Goldman Gallery, Peres Projects, Sister, David Kordansky Gallery, Jack Hanley Gallery, China Art Objects, Trudi, Ooga Booga. Enjoy Peroni beer, buns (dim sum) and amazing reggae music from I&I Sound who will be DJing from the back of an ice cream truck! The M.A.C ice cream/makeup truck will also be on site to keep your lips happy. Special surprises and entertainment brought to you by participating galleries. Wednesday, 5-8 p.m., Chinatown

“Unbound: How L.A.’s Art Magazines are Changing the Face of Popular Culture”
Panel discussion presented by adidas and moderated by PAPER senior editor Carlo McCormick. Panelists include Shepard Fairey (Swindle), Amir H. Fallah (Beautiful/Decay), Tracy Forman-Snyder (Arkitip), Brendan Fowler (ANP) and Eric Nakamura (Giant Robot). Friday, 6-7:30 p.m., Hollywood
