Orange, T-Mobile UK Team on Mobile TV Service
Wireless operators Orange and T-Mobile have hooked up to jointly pilot a mobile TV service in the UK. Using a TDtv solution from NextWave Wireless, the pilot is set for the second half of the year and will give folks in West London a chance to test the service.
According to 3G.co.uk, Orange and T-Mobile UK customers will have TDtv-enabled WCDMA handsets on which to view some two-dozen high-resolution TV channels and listen to 10 digital radio channels
The goal of the trial, the article says, is to provide broadcast-quality TV channels as part of an integrated package of multimedia services to “conclusively prove customer demand for mobile broadcast TV and radio services.”
