The UK’s Media Week is reporting that British media mogul Richard Desmond plans to sell off several magazines, including the U.S. version of the celeb tabloid mag OK!. Unlike its successful UK counterpart–which apparently made a profit of £20 million last year–the U.S. version of OK! has been getting killed since it launched in 2005. OK! is published in 21 countries around the world, but Desmond is apparently trying to peel off the U.S. version and sell it separately.
The U.S. version of OK! has been something of a public disaster for quite some time. Back in 2009, an internal memo from an OK! efficiency expert leaked out, which basically told OK! staffers to justify their jobs in 2-3 sentences.
