Off the Media: Foul Language

Solo host Bob Garfield’s linguistically nimble foul mouth served On the Media to hilarious effect this week, when he asked an FCC commissioner why “bullsh–” is a curse but “dickhead” isn’t.

And he closed the show with an old piece (why do they have so many old pieces?) on vanity license plates that can’t have monikers like “LICKME” or “IMAHO.” But were they really the main means of self expression before the blog came to be?

Anyway, thanks, Bob, for being willing to say sh– on air that most of us are too timid, or maybe self-important, to utter.
