NY Times Names Europe-Based Styles Correspondent

Elizabeth Paton joins from The Financial Times.

The New York Times has named Elizabeth Paton its first full-time European correspondent for the Styles section.

Paton comes to the Times from the Financial Times, where she served as a fashion and luxury correspondent.

“Lizzie will play an integral role in our increased coverage of global fashion, both in print and online, making us better able to respond to breaking news, whether it’s a new designer named at a venerable fashion house (or fired by one), yet another acquisition made by the rapidly expanding fashion conglomerates LVMH and Kering, or profiles of emerging talent in the world’s fashion capitals,” wrote Times Styles editor Stuart Emmrich and chief fashion critic Vanessa Friedman, in a note to staffers.

Paton will be based in London.
