New York Times Moves Two Reporters to Economics Beat

Two reporters will be leaving their current beats to join the economics team at The New York Times, according to a memo from business editor Larry Ingrassia published today by Talking Biz News.

Michael Powell formerly covered politics for the metro desk, where in 2009 he was one of the Pulitzer prize winners for coverage of former governor Eliot Spitzer. Motoko Rich covered book publishing for the media desk. They both join Business Day “soon,” according to the memo, which Ingrassia sent to Times staffers Monday.
