Mochila Open for Online ‘Business’ With New Deal

Web syndicator Mochila has entered into a year-long partnership with Investor’s Business Daily to package and distribute personal finance- and investment-related editorial content to a network of 14 content Web sites.

The investment-focused package, which will include text, photos and videos from, will be comprised of market news, features and service-oriented fare aimed at both individuals and professionals. Among the sites set to begin publishing the Investor’s Business Daily editorial are Scripps’s and Belo’s, as well as several Tribune Co. broadcast and newspaper sites.

Also signed on to participate in Mochila’s new syndication offering are the news aggregator/community sites Topix; and AnchorFree, a company that offers a product promising to enable more private and secure Web surfing. The plan is to expand the distribution network to 40 sites over time, said Mochila officials.

Initially launched in 2006 as an attempt to create an iTunes-like marketplace for editorial content, Mochila has recently shifted into the syndication business, with a similar distribution deal with International Data Group inked earlier this year. As with that deal, Investor’s Business Daily will handle all related ad sales, with Mochila sharing in a portion of the associated revenue.
