Maxim.com Redesigning Site

maxim10.08.08.pngEarlier today, Maxim.com editor-in-chief Jay Woodruff told FishbowlNY during a So What Do You Do? interview that the site would be undergoing some changes next week, with an eye towards a full redesign soon”

“I’ve tried to make a few simple tweaks and we’re actually going to be unveiling some slightly more ambitious redesigns in the next week or two. Redesigning our homepage and redesigning key landing pages.

One of the challenges of working online is that redesigns are very complicated. An editor can redesign a magazine six times in the time it takes to do it once online.”

So when’s the real redesign coming?

I’m trying to make some changes that both clean up the pages visually for the user and lighten the pages in terms of load time that’s going to make our best content pop more clearly. I’m doing that a little bit cautiously to avoid making unnecessary mistakes. We’ve got these interim redesigns coming out in the next week or so, and then moving into the next year, we’re going to be looking at a much more comprehensive redesign that will have a major impact on functionality and how easy it is to use the site, to navigate the site.

The slide show player we have right now is not ideal, so we’ll change that. It will look very different in the coming days.”
