Initial Unemployment Claims Jump by 2K

Weekly jobless claims made an unexpected move rising 2,000, and reaching a level not seen since February 2010.

According to the weekly Labor Department report, initial jobless claims rose to 484,000 last week, a considerable jump from the numbers from the week before last, which was adjusted to 482,000 initial claims.

“It’s just more of the same,” said LPL Financial economist John Canally to CNNMoney.com. “This data doesn’t break out of the range, and that’s going to continue until companies can see their way to adding some jobs.”

It’s the highest level of jobless claims since February 20, when the number came in at 486,000 claims.
