Idol Wins the Week for WNYW

Not to sound like a broken record, but American Idol has scored another winning ratings week. In the prime time numbers for New York, according to Nielsen, Idol finished the week with the top two programs. The Wednesday night, two-hour performance was number one with an estimated 1.3 million WNYW/Channel 5 viewers and a 6.7 rating. The elimination night was second best with 1.2 million tuned in and a 6.2 rating.

At NBC, the second season of The Voice hasn’t had a misstep since its Super Bowl lead-in last month. It landed at number five (882,000/4.5).

CBS can always count on 60 Minutes, without another strong number three for the week (991,000/5.1).

ABC’s sitcom Modern Family had a fourth-place finish (942,000/4.8).

There’s more from the Top 10 after the jump

The Fox News at Ten scored well, thanks to the Idol audience Wednesday night. The Ernie Anastos/Dari Alexander-led newscast was 16th for the week (594,000/3.0).

In sports, it’s the end of Linsanity at Madison Square Garden. But it’s also the end of the Mike D’Antoni era as Knicks head coach. The latter likely led to an appearance in the Top 30 at number 23. The Saturday night telecast had 501,000 MSG Network viewers with a 2.6 rating.
