On the heels of former New York Daily News editor in chief Jim Rich joining HuffPost as executive editor, the site’s EIC Lydia Polgreen has made four more key additions. Here’s the memo that went out this afternoon to HuffPost staff:

I’m thrilled to announce four additions to the HuffPost editorial team.

Hillary Frey, a creative powerhouse and roll-up-your-sleeves doer who has been working with us as an indispensable advisor since January. She will come aboard full time as director of editorial strategy, effective immediately.

In this newly-created role, Hillary will oversee strategic and special projects, and serve as a key adviser to me and the rest of the leadership team. She will also be working closely with Greg, Rachel and the rest of the Highline team on expanding our premier longform storytelling platform into new formats, and exploring new monetization opportunities for the award-winning journalism Highline creates. Hillary will report to me and work closely with the business development team to find new ways to underwrite our independent journalism.

Jennifer Kho will be joining us as managing editor, overseeing all newsroom operations. Most recently, Jennifer has been the managing editor of Guardian US, where she developed the site’s successful editorial strategy, which grew traffic and engagement through impactful storytelling and journalism, and unified the newsroom as well.

Jennifer is a brilliant organizational and business-minded thinker, and an experienced writer and reporter to boot. She’s published stories in The New York Times, Fast Company, and worked as an editor for a number of outlets. She’ll report directly to me and start with us in early July.

Shelley Venus is joining us from as head of newsroom video, leading all news video out of New York and D.C., including politics, lifestyle, and entertainment.

Shelley brings a valuable and unique combination of experience in broadcast, news, franchise and social video to HuffPost, and a deep knowledge of video distribution platforms and opportunities.

Shelley is a passionate storyteller, a talent spotter and an expert in short and long video (and everything in between). She’ll be based in New York City and will jointly report to Charlotte and me. We can’t wait to have her start this Thursday, June 8.

Kate Rodemann, who most recently served as the editorial director of Texas Monthly, is joining Highline as an editor. Kate is a brilliant editor who handled much of the Monthly’s influential reporting over the last few years—most notably the work of Pamela Colloff, Michael Hall and Mimi Swartz—and helped lead the editorial staff to more than twelve National Magazine Award nominations and more than thirty City and Regional Magazine Award wins.

Kate will be instrumental in creating even more terrific, in-depth work from Highline, and developing stories that will continue to help the HuffPost brand shine. She started with us officially last week and will be based in Austin, TX.

Please join me in welcoming these four amazing women to the HuffPost team.
