Elmo Actor Resigns as New Underage Sex Allegations Emerge

Amid new underage sex allegations, Kevin Clash, the voice of Sesame Street’s Elmo, has resigned. Clash had his name effectively cleared last week when Sheldon Stephens recanted his allegations that Clash had underage sexual relations with him. Then just days later, Stephens retracted his recant, claiming that he was pressured into recanting his allegations against Clash.

Now, in court documents obtained by TMZ, a second man — Cecil Singleton — is accusing Clash of engaging in underage sex with him. Singleton claims that the two met in an online chat room, when when he was 15 years old and Clash was 32.

In light of the scandal, Clash has resigned from Sesame Street.

“Personal matters have diverted attention away from the important work Sesame Street is doing and I cannot allow it to go on any longer,” said Clash, in a statement. “I am deeply sorry to be leaving and am looking forward to resolving these personal matters privately.”
