Douglas Manchester May Be After the San Diego Union-Tribune

Former San Diego Union-Tribune editor David Ogul tweets that real estate developer and Prop 8 backer Douglas Manchester making serious motions to buy the U-T. This certainly seems to confirm the suspicions of CounterPunch’s Frank Green, who wrote back in October that Manchester was sniffing around the paper. Counterpunch and sources we spoke with say Manchester is interested in the paper’s real estate. Which, at this point, is probably far more valuable as a potential redevelopment site than the paper itself.
