(Desperately staving off the temptation to write a ‘Mouse Roars’ headline)

It's a good day for Disney, I guess.

mikeov.jpgIt’s a good day for Disney, I guess. A Delaware judge ruled yesterday that the studio didn’t err by granting former president Mike Ovitz a $140 million severance package, disappointing shareholders who had brought the suit. But these shareholders must at least be partially molified by the 41% jump in earnings it just reported for the last quarter.

(Note: the judge did suggest that, in granting Ovitz the severance package, the Disney board of directors did “[fall] significantly short of the best practices of ideal corporate governance.” Not like that’s a newsflash.)
