Meanwhile, as everyone was fawning over James Dyson and who he was giving awards out to, no one seemed to be paying much attention to fashion designer Jasper Conran receiving the British government’s Order of the British Empire honor. Oh, but wait, they usually give a bunch of those out at the same time don’t they? Who is that in the back, behind Conran? Oh look, it’s starchitect David Adjaye, who also received an OBE, pinned to his jacket by wine-designing, modernism-hating Prince Charles himself. Here’s a bit:

Also receiving an OBE was the architect David Adjaye, whose work includes the Nobel Peace Centre in Oslo and the education centre in memory of murdered black teenager Stephen Lawrence, in south east London.

Mr Adjaye, 41, the son of a now retired Ghanaian diplomat, said his parents had been “beaming” when he went up to receive the honour.

He said he and the Prince of Wales had discussed Ghanaian Highlife music and his work in Africa and the US.
