Daily News Staffers Brace for Cuts

Bad news for the Daily News.

The New York Daily News’ editor Arthur Browne—who took over rather suddenly for Jim Rich earlier last week—is getting set to make cuts to the newsroom.

According to The New York Post, Browne is looking to cut 15 t0 30 staffers between November 8 and Thanksgiving. Additionally, roughly 40 staffers will be moved to the Daily News’ office in New Jersey.

The inevitable cuts support one theory about Rich’s abrupt departure: He didn’t want to oversee another round of layoffs.
