BuzzFeed Taps Stanton as D.C. Bureau Chief

BuzzFeed is getting bigger…  in more ways than one. Politico reports that Roll Call’s John Stanton, who has been described as an “all-American badass,” will be the new Bureau Chief for the recently announced Washington bureau of the website. Stanton, a former bouncer who is covered in tattoos, will launch the bureau on July 9.

“I’m terrible at giving quotes, since I’m used to being on the other side of this,” Stanton told FishbowlDC this morning. “But I will say that I’m really excited for the move. I
think their focus on social media like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit etc
is the right model for the new era of journalism. People are getting
their news that way and we as an industry have to be nimble enough to
respond accordingly. And that’s exactly what they’re doing.
Also, Ben is a genuine titan in the industry, and he’s hired some of
the best young talent I’ve seen come along in a long time.”
