Attention Android Phone Users: Google Says it is Safe to Wallpaper Your Screen Again
There was a lot of discussion and hand-wringing over an alleged malware wallpaper for Android over the past week. I didn’t cover it hear simply because I wasn’t able to piece together key pieces of information such as which Android wallpaper apps were actually in question. It turns out that my lack of commentary was a good thing as the issue fades away and we learn from VentureBeat/MobileBeat that:
Google declares suspicious Android wallpaper apps safe, lifts ban
According to Google (via MobileBeat’s article), the app might be considered somewhat ill-behaved but is not actually malware.
So, all you (we) Android users are safe to wallpaper our phones again.
