There’s no one these days hiring like AOL in the journalism world. They’ve declared they want to be the number one employer of journalists and have gotten off to a rather good start.

One of the most-profile new sites that AOL has built is the local outlet Patch. Each Patch site has one editor who’s helped by freelancers, and it covers towns in Long Island to New Jersey and are expanding into California and Illinois, among other states.
