Another Outsourced Job: Comment Moderator

Gannett is outsourcing comment moderation on its news sites to software company Pluck, offloading the responsibility of deleting comments readers have flagged as offensive.
There once was a time when an entry-level job at a news site could have included comment moderation as one of the job responsibilities, and one could argue that by outsourcing moderation to Pluck, which is in the business of social media solutions, that entry-level Web jobs, the kind that would lead to a producing or reporting position, are becoming thin on the ground.
But hitting “delete” on racist screeds and real estate ads thinly disguised as comments is no way to spend eight hours a day. This is one job we, at least, are glad to see go elsewhere.
But what do you think?
