Anne Fulenwider Staffs Up at Marie Claire

Nina Garcia promoted; W's Alex Gonzalez joins as artistic director

Anne Fulenwider, Marie Claire’s new editor in chief, is putting in place her new editorial team at the magazine. Along with adding W’s Alex Gonzalez as Marie Claire’s new artistic director, Fulenwider promoted her fashion director Nina Garcia to creative director.

Gonzalez, who will be responsible for the overall “look and feel” of Marie Claire, replaces former creative director Suzanne Sykes, who left for Elle UK in September. Gonzalez joined W as creative director in 2011 and was responsible for the magazine’s redesign under then-newly-appointed editor in chief Stefano Tonchi, with whom he had worked at L’Uomo Vogue.
