Android 1.6 SDK: Here’s What’s New

OK, Google announced…

Android 1.6 SDK is here

Here’s what’s new in 1.6 based on their video overview (I’ll save you 2 minutes and 38 seconds of viewing :-)…

– Supports displays at different screen resolutions, orientations, and sizes
– Supports both CDMA and GSM voice technologies (I thought it already did that?)
– Provides a quick search box on the home screen with suggested results while a person is typing
– Google search from speech of on-device information (e.g., contacts)
– Text-to-Speech API, multi-lingual speech engine
– Improved app market with screen shots and user reviews
