3 Good Reasons to Intern for Roll Call: Newhauser, Bade and Estepa

Charlie Mitchell recently announced that editorial assistant Dan Newhauser will be taking over Roll Call‘s Campus beat. Taking his place at the EA desk are Jessica Estepa and Rachael Bade who began interning with the publication this summer. Interestingly, Newhauser joined Roll Call as an intern in January.

Mitchell’s memo after the jump.

“I am pleased to announce that Dan Newhauser will be taking over Roll Call’s Campus beat, while Jessica Estepa and Rachael Bade will form our team of Editorial Assistants. Dan came to Washington late last year for a reporting internship with National Law Journal. After starting an internship in January with Roll Call, he was promoted to Editorial Assistant this spring. Dan quickly acquitted himself as an eager and enthusiastic reporter, taking on everything from suspicious package stories to museum art exhibitions. He’s added to the team from day one and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do in the campus beat. Jessica has already taken up residence at the EA desk. She started at Roll Call in June as an intern, after graduating in May from the University of Nevada, Reno, where she also worked for the Reno Gazette-Journal, the Nevada Sagebrush and other publications. She also helped manage the website of Nevada’s state encyclopedia and concentrated on social media and multimedia projects. She has impressed us with her strong writing, great attitude and willingness to take whatever assignment is thrown in her direction. Rachael, another recent college graduate, will formally take up her EA duties at the end of the week. She started at Roll Call as an intern in May. Before joining us, she wrote for the Dayton (Ohio) Business Journal and acted as an editor at five student publications at the University of Dayton, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in May. Since coming to Roll Call, Rachael has written multiple stories, covered events for Heard on the Hill, and done a spectacular job all around. Please join me in congratulating our colleagues on their promotions and wishing them all the best.”
