Gap is acquiring a startup that makes it easier for customers to virtually try on clothes as part of the retailer’s continued push to reinvent itself for the age of ecommerce.
The clothing brand is buying Drapr, which allows users to quickly create 3D avatars of their bodies to try on products. Gap is only the latest retailer to acquire or develop a virtual try-on feature as pandemic-related store closures and a subsequent surge in ecommerce have led to higher demand for products that can take fitting rooms into the digital realm.
