After a couple of years in which the word “staycation” became a fixture in their vocabulary, are Americans more apt to take real vacations this summer? Polling conducted for American Express finds many won’t, though people who do plan a vacation look less determined to do it on the cheap.

Fifty-one percent of respondents to the poll (fielded last month by Echo Research) said they plan to go on vacation this year, up just marginally from the 49 percent saying so last year.
